Lil Han

Small Han Solo

To Every Fett Turn Turn Turn

More little Star Wars folks, this time bounty hunter "Boba Fett" (*Real Name Boballi Fettuchini). Drawing this guy, made me realize that in the Star Wars galaxy their paint jobs chip and scratch more easily than in ours quite possibly. Maybe it's something about the atmospheric differences. Yeah, it's pretty deep, just think about all the dings and scuffs on this mug's outfit...yeah it's serious stuff yo.

Thanks to my buddy Zan for going to the matches with me back in tha days and my pal Erb for enduring all the crazy shiznit we've gone to see through the years as well! I am really enjoying going more super cartoony lately, more to come!

Buildings Yo!

Here are a few sketches of buildings that I have been crankin' out lately. I am a huge Will Eisner fan and was influenced heavily by his cityscapes and backgrounds from "the Spirit" as well as his graphic novels.

Gotham Gals Remix

Here is a revamp I did of my print for this years Comic-Con in San Diego. I like this one much more than the original. I was trying to keep the art and color in line with those super cool title cards that they used to have at the beginning of all the Batman cartoons.

Let the cards fall where they may in Gotham, "Run from the hot babes Bats!!! Run!!!"

Wade Boyd's Pick-Up Art!

I have been waiting to post these for awhile and have finally had the chance to get around to it. Here are the photos of the supa-badass gal I created for Sidecar Racing Champion Wade Boyd's 57 chevy pickup! It came out sooo cool, I can't wait to create more images of this gal for the always awesome Wadester!

Spectreman & Dr. Gori A.P.E. Poster!

Here are the featured players in the Spectreman poster I created for the 2009 Alternative Press Expo. 1. Spectreman 2. Rie (I believe her name was, well anyway...the co-worker who had the hots for Spectreman's alter-ego George) 3. Dr.Gori 4. Karras

A.P.E. @ The Concourse in SF OCT.17-18

Hi all, long time no post! Work has kept me away from my bloggin' now I plan to get back into it just in time for my next convention. The event is the ALTERNATIVE PRESS EXPO 2009 at the Concourse in San Francisco (620 7th Street) on October 17th and 18th. It is always my favorite con outside of the big one in SD every year. Great independently published artists and all around cool art everywhere in a small but very jam packed event. I almost missed it this year but I am glad we didn't. I will have tons of new work available; books, new prints and t-shirts as well!

This year's A.P.E. print follows in line with the one I made last year featuring some of my favorite Tokusatsu characters of all time, Specteman and his arch-nemesis Dr. Gori. It is also very important to note that in honor of A.P.E. the Tokusatsu poster features 2 of the most popular space A-P-E's of the whole genre, the diabolical Dr. Gori and Karras his goofy henchman. I always loved this show as a younglin' and watched religiously on Channel 2's Captain Cosmic show alongside my cousin Demian. He was more of an Ultraman guy as most everyone else seems to be when I bring up such a topic of nerdesque proportions, so I am posting some screen grabs from the show to help jog some cob webs off yer memories out there if you were old enough or cool enough(yeah I said it!) to remember this kick-ass show! Hope you all enjoy and I hope to see you all in SF at the con where I will have this awesome print available! What are you waiting for??? Go already!! C-U there!!

Wade Boyd's Subculture Racing Gal

I recently created this "hot" babe wielding a flame thrower for Subculture Racing Sidecar champion Wade Boyd. Wade is an all around cool guy/dare devil/artist's artist and he asked me if I could design her for the hood of his newly acquired '57 Chevrolet pickup. Of course I said "hellz yess!" The only specifications were that she have turquoise hair and a flame thrower as any superbadass should.

If you are wondering more about who Wade is, check out the recent episode of "Jesse James Is a Dead Man" on Spike TV where he smokes the "Vanilla Gorilla" coming down the homestretch of the track or search him on Youtube.

There will be more designs featuring tha 57 Gal and her realm in the weeks to come online here. I plan on contributing more than a few illo's of her to the truck design!

Comic-Con 2009 Wrap Up

We had a great time at the San Diego Comic this year in the small press area. As usual it was great to see old friends from the convention circuit. It is always really draining to do the whole week of the con, but it's also ridiculously fun to be there. Then once it's over, you feel kinda sad that it's over. I grabbed a ton of books as well from some of my favorites as well as a few new ones. It was my most successful convention yet thanks to everyone who came by and supported us! Extra special thanks to everyone who came by! Hope to see everyone again next year! I have literally over a hundred more pix to see if you are one of my holme skillets on facebook, check um out.....

MJ Smooth Criminal Pulp

Here is another MJ piece I did based on "Smooth Criminal" from his Bad album. Absolutely my favorite video he ever did.

I wanted to make this one look like a pulp novel that had been in quite a few back pockets during it's lifetime. Hope U like!

Michael Jackson Tribute Piece

Needless to say I was a huge MJ fan since I was a little dude. I grew up in the 80's and remember every moment of his skyrocketing fame. I've been listening to everything from J5 to Invincible since he passed on and wanted to do a tribute piece that said thanks in some small way for all the years of great music he left us with. When I was sitting around bummed out late one night after hearing of his passing I watched a bunch of clips of his performances online. Without a doubt one of my favorite moments in his career was his performance at the Motown 25th anniversary show when he blew peeps domes off with the moonwalk for the 1st time. I just started sketching all the moves out. This piece is all the gestural key positions from that performance. Hope you enjoy. Thank you MJ, you will be sorely missed!

4 Americans Cover

Here is something I created for my friend Michael "Black Light" Bennett to return the favor for his version of my "Scumbags" poster. This piece features one of Mike's superhero squads named "The 4 Americans". I tried to incorporate a lot of the elements that I love about Mike's work, but no one does it like that guy can!

This is my humble tribute poster which I plan to give to him in San Diego at the Comic-Con this month. Can't thank Mike enough for giving me the "Scumbags" original back in San Jose at the Super Con in May!

Gearing up for the '09 Comic-Con in San Diego I have added a lot of fan favorites to my catalog of hero drizawin's including now my lil' sister's fave....X-23. I wanted to give it a more comicbooky ol' schoo' feel like the character has been around a bit longer than she actually has. Hope you all like it!

For tha Hilmeister, represent foo!!! An if you get a chance check out her blog right here at....http://sugaraddictcreations.blogspot.com/

Crusty Bats Returns!

Here is a new one that features the ORIGINAL Frank Miller inspired crusty ol' Bats and girly Robin from "The Dark Knight Returns".
Keeping with that Eisneresque idea of incorporating the title into the art.

Getting ready for San Diego C-Con next month, will have this print plus plenty others available too!

Spidey N Hobs!

Here is a new piece that I created in time for the San Jose Super Con this weekend. It features Spiderman and Hobgoblin with an Eisneresque title treatment for the Amazin' one. If you're in the area May 16th and 17th we will be in the San Jose Convention Center South Hall (that big ass tent! Hall my bizutt!) It's the 1st time we been here in 2 years, hope to see all o' yall there!

Bennett Black Light Scum Bags!

One of the cooler things that happens when you start exhibiting at comic conventions is you discover artwork which inspires your own creativity from artists you hadn't known about before. My friend Erb told me about a guy she thought I would like whom she was a big fan of; he drew Silver Age Kirby-esque/Steranko-inspired art with his own unique sense of humor and cinematic framing. The artist was Michael Bennett aka Black Light Bennett. Suffice to say I talked his ear off at that Alternative Press Expo in SF and we've been friends ever since.

At the San Diego Comic-con in 2008, I gave Mike a copy of my 1st hardcover book pressing and he told me that he would do a piece inspired by the book. I never thought that he would actually create one! But low and behold, at the 2009 SF Wondercon Mike told me that he created a piece based on the short story I am creating at this very moment, "Scum Bags". Unfortunately he couldn't find the piece during the convention since he was pretty busy. However, today he e-mailed it in jpg form! It's such an honor to finally see it, I am still geekin' out about it! Check out his Web site too when you get a chance to! ENJOY!!......

Where's the Squid? T-Shirts and Stickers!

It's the question all Watchmen book nerds will be asking once they leave the theatre! Being the huge Watchmen geek that I am; me an' the Jusscope crew decided that we should honor the most popular character who didn't make the final cut in the film version of Watchmen.

I am really bummed that the ending has been tweaked to remove my good buddy.....the Giant Space Squid:(

My 1st New York Comic-Con!

Well, we just returned from our 1st New York Comic-con and we had a great time! Granted we are a little bit tired from the trip but all in all we had a very solid 1st showing on the East Coast. I want to thank everyone who stopped by especially the folks who already knew my work from deviant art. It made me feel like I wasn't such a stranger there after all! Artist alley was pretty cramped up with Jim Lee fans jamming the aisle right across from us. But we had a good time; even got to meet both Method as well as Honky Tonk Man! Whatta combo, huh? Many thanks to our awesome neighbors Brenden and Mike as well! Will post pictures really soon on www.myspace.com/jusscope.

Rorschach Alternate Version

I have been drawing the hell out of this guy, I think it's the nerdly excitement that the movie I've been waiting to see since I read Watchmen back in highschool is getting closer. So here is a slightly more evil version of Rorschach to go with the original slightly happier version, enjoy or don't!

Watchmen Poster for NYComic Con and SF Wondercon

For the 1st time in February 2009 I will be traveling from coast to coast on the convention circuit to promote my artwork. I am really excited about the trip since I have never exhibited on the east coast. I created this print not only because I am a huge Watchmen nerd and it will be out right on the heels of my cons but to commemorate the trip.

I will be at the New York Comic Con Feb. 6-8 in the Jacob Javits Center and at Wondercon Feb.27-Mar.1 in San Francisco Moscone Center. I will be located in Artist Alley for both events, if you are in the area please stop by and say "hi!', then grab this limited edition print while it's still around! See you all there!
